Shareware Information:
ConversionCalculator is Shareware. I am going to put it to you point blank. I have invested in excess of 500 hours in the development, production and debugging of ConversionCalculator. All I am asking is that you send $5.00 US cash, check or money order to the above address.
The copy of ConversionCalculator included with this package is a 68K version. If you would like a FAT or a PowerMac version of ConversionCalculator please send $15.00 US instead of the $5.00 and deMacInnovations will send you the requested version. Please indicate which (FAT or PowerMac) you would prefer.
I would prefer that ConversionCalculator not be included with shareware packages without my prior consent, however, if asked I would probably consent. Making copies for any commercial purpose is prohibited. You are encouraged to upload ConversionCalculator on any BBS you know of or pass on to others as long as they are aware of this agreement. The only requirements are that ConversionCalculator is distributed in its original form and this documentation must go along with it.
About ConversionCalculator:
It is recommended that you have the following fonts installed on your computer before you launch the ConversionCalculator: Chicago, Geneva, and Times.
It should also be noted that the necessary RAM allocation should be set to no less than 2M.

The ConversionCalculator is not just another calculator. ConversionCalculator takes a figure you entered on the calculator and converts that figure to seven different forms of Units of Measurements. Do you want to know how many picas, points, yards, millimeters, or yards there are in 2.345 inches (or any figure entered on the calculator)? ConversionCalculator will tell you. How many short tons are there in 15.66 metric tons? Do you want to know how many teaspoons there are in a liter, pint, quart, or cubic inch or vica versa? ConversionCalculator will tell you. How many acres in 4.3 square miles? No problem. There are also hundreds of other potential combinations.
Some notes on ConversionCalculator:
1. When you want to do the following function on the calculator,
3(+)2(+)2(+)2(+)2(+)2(=)
you can do so by clicking
3(+)2(+)(+)(+)(+)(=).
Clicking on the plus button will re-add the last entered number as many time as you click on the plus button.
This repeating function (not normally found on ╥just another calculator╙) also holds true for the (-), (/), and (*) keys as well as the (M+), (M-), (M/), (M*), (├), (X2), and (X3) keys.
2. The Copy button will copy the number displayed on the calculator to the clipboard so you can paste it in other field on other cards within the ConversionCalculator or into another application if needed.
3. The Paste button will display on the calculator the contents of the clipboard as long as it is a number. With minimal practice you can use the Copy and Paste together with the ╥M╙ button to store two different numbers into memory. It should also be noted that many of the selections from the lower portion of the ╥Misc╙ button have fields on their cards that can be clicked on to place the displayed figure on the clipboard. Returning to the calculator and clicking on the ╥Paste╙ button will put that figure on the calculator for further number crunching.
4. The (XM) button allows you to toggle back and forth with what is in Memory and what the last number was that was displayed on the calculator.
5. When you press on the calculator╒s (CLEAR) button, everything is cleared except what is in Memory.
6. All functions on the calculator are keyboard functional. The (enter) key functions in the same way as the (=) key.
7. The ╥Convert╙ button will display a floating palette with a variety of buttons located on

the palette. Each button on the palette will change the popup buttons on the top of the calculator that allow you to configure your desired conversion. Depending on which button you click on the palette will determine what set of identical menus will be available on the popup buttons. With a minimum of practice you will be able to easily figure thousands of possible conversions.
8. For those of you that have read this far, this hot tip is for you. Once you have entered a number on the calculator and ConversionCalculator has converted a Units of Measurement, you can click on the field that is displaying the conversion. ConversionCalculator will transfer that figure to the calculator where further calculations can be done or even put on the clipboard. I use this feature a lot to figure inches to millimeters and put the result on the clipboard. Then I will go to another application and paste the result where it might be needed.
9. Immediately above the ╥Clear╙ button there is a field where the number that you store into Memory will be displayed. Did you ever use a calculator, put a number into Memory and forgot what that number was?
10. Click on the light switch to hide the desktop and turn the background blue. Flip the switch again and your normal desktop will reappear and the titleBar will appear so that you can move ConversionCalculator to a different location. You will also regain access to the menu. When you select an item from the bottom portion of the "Misc"and the switch is on, the backgound color will change to coordinate with the colors on the selected item.
11. The ╥ASCII╙ button will display a palette where you can choose between ASCII to character or from character to ASCII. The results will be displayed in the two fields directly next to the ╥ASCII╙ button.
12. Now comes the fun part. The ╥Misc╙ popup button. When you click and hold on the arrow you can select the following goodies:
A. Fahrenheit/Celsius: A dialog window will appear asking you for the temperature. You will be asked in the next dialog window if you want to convert from íC to íF or from íF to íC. So bear in mind which way you want to go when you enter the temperature in the first dialog. The resulting answer will be displayed on the calculator. The temperature that you enter and the measurement method will be displayed in the two fields to the left of the ASCII button. If you enter a number higher than 100 or lower than -100, only the first two digits will be displayed it the left window. If you are concerned about the temperature in those extremes, it is too hot or cold to really care about this minor bug. You will probably be sweating about the heat or shivering over the cold instead.
B. Fractions: The first dialog window will ask you for the numerator and the second will ask you for the denominator. The decimal equivalent will be displayed on the calculator and the numerator and denominator will be displayed in the two fields directly next to the ╥ASCII╙ button. The numerator displayed in the field on the left; the denominator displayed in the field on the right. Again only the the first two digits will be displayed. Future versions may very well fix that.
C. Chinese Calendar: A window will appear with a chart of the Chinese Calendar from 1864 to 2067. You can find what the current year is in the Chinese Calendar or you can find what you, a friend, or relative is by finding the year you/they were born. If for some reason the chart is not displaying properly, it is probably due to a font (Geneva) problem. You can resize the window so that the columns line up properly.
D. Density of Gases: A window will appear with a chart of the density of the gases. Not everyone is going to overwhelmed by this information, but someone might be. If you are suffering from gas this will not help you....just stand downwind.
E. Earthquakes: A window will appear with all kinds of information about earthquakes. It compares the Richter Scale to the Mercalli Scale and tells you what damage can be expected with various earthquake magnitudes.
F. Roman Numerals: A window will appear with a chart of the Roman Numerals to 1,000,000. With the supplied information you can fake it for any number between 1 and 1,000,000+.
G. Wind-Chill Factor: A window will appear with a chart to tell you the comparable temperature when the wind is blowing and it is cold outside (or inside if you leave your windows open).
H. Dice Chances: A window will appear showing what the odds are for the various chances on the roll of the dice.
I. Poker Hand Chances: A window will appear showing what the odds are for the various chances for poker hands. Better study up on this before your next trip to Nevada or wherever they allow you to do this (your buddy╒s den?).
J. Board Feet: You will be taken to a new card where you can enter up to 5 different combinations of dimensional lumber possibilities. Click and hold on the popup buttons to make your choices for Quantity, Dimension, and Length. If the selection that you desire does not appear in the popup you can select ╥Other╙ and enter your own figure. You can click on any of the fields under ╥Board Feet╙ or the field displaying the total to transfer that figure to the clipboard. The ╥Paste╙ button on the Calculator will put that figure on the calculator.
K. Cities: You will be taken to a new card where you can find out the Latitude, Longitude, Elevation, and 1990 Population for 328 major US cities by clicking on the name of the city in the field. There are also a few for Canada and Mexico as well. Future versions will expand on the listings depending on the ShareWare response. All that pay their ShareWare will receive future Versions. You can do a command F to do a search for a city in lieu of clicking on the ╥Find╙ button. If the city is not listed you will be told so.
L. Compound Interest: There is a ╥Help╙ button on the card to give you instructions on what you need to do. If you select ╥Calculator╙ from the ╥Go to╙ button, you will be asked if you want to transfer the Ending Balance sum to the calculator. Your choice.
M. Elements: The Elements feature functions much the same way as Cities. I realize that there were a few elements resently discovered and they are not listed. However, there are 105 of them for you to expand your knowledge of the Elements. Information provided includes: atomic symbol, atomic number, specific gravity, melting point, boiling point, atomic weight, number of isotopes, year of discovery, and the person who discovered the element. Again, if a field contains a number, it can be transferred to the clipboard and pasted back onto the calculator or another application.
N. Extended ASCII: This card shows you the Extended Keyboard. Click and hold on the popup button and wait for the button to display the fonts that you have loaded on your computer. The time that this takes will be determined by the number of fonts that you have loaded on your machine. Click on a key on the keyboard and the ASCII value and the letter itself will be shown in the fields at the top of the card. Another field will show the letter in enlarged view. Click on the Shift key to show the capital letters. Sorry....Option and Control key have not been added at this time. Again, shareware response will determine whether or not I add this feature. In another stack that I designed, I incorporated the usage of the actual keyboard to activate the keys in the stack. Again, ShareWare response will determine whether or not I add this feature as well.
O. Stock Buy/Sell: Much like the Compound Interest. It has been said that an artist is most critical of his own work. I am not extremely thrilled with the functionality of this one. It will figure out several interesting things for you and I am open for any suggestion that will make it better. That goes for the whole project. There is a ╥HELP╙ button that should explain anything that you have questions about.
P. Trig Ratios: I had a guy walk up to me and ask me "I have a right triange and I know the length of the Hypotenuse and one of the angles besides the right angle. Now I want to know the length of the other two sides." No kidding, it really happened. Hence we have Trig Ratios. Click on any value on the graph to see the value for the number clicked on. Shareware response will determine the availability of values for angles with minute values.
